Chef Chris Maher is a nationally acclaimed, James Beard recognized chef and his most recent restaurant, which he sold five years ago, was awarded the AAA Four Diamond award of excellence 7 consecutive rows, prior to it’s sale.  In addition, he has owned and operated restaurants in Los Angeles for many years before he moved full time to Taos 12 years ago.

Chris has been teaching cooking classes for many, many years first in Los Angeles and now in Taos.  He has cooked for the Dalai Lama and President Clinton, among others. He also travels and teaches in private homes, most recently in San Luis Obispo and Beverly Hills, Dallas and Santa Fe last month.  Some of the cities he visits regularly include Dallas, Houston, Austin, Chicago, New York, Portland, L.A., San Francisco, San Diego and others and each year he teaches a week long in different homes and wineries in Napa Valley.  In addition, Chris consults for restaurants and culinary projects and speaking engagements.

In Taos, he teaches on an ongoing basis, from private individuals and families, to group classes that accommodate up to 12 students to the team building classes we offer for small and large groups.  Many traveling from other parts of the world enjoy his New Mexican cuisine classes, while others jump to attend his Indian, Cuban, Thai, Italian, French and Middle Eastern classes, among others engagements.

We conduct about 70% of our classes as private groups and we can completely tailor the menu to each clients liking as well as selecting the day and start time that works best for their itinerary. They are such a great time and they truly add an incredible aspect to a New Mexico experience.

Our cooking classes are 100% hands on participation and learning covering a wide variety of cuisines.  The length of each class is approximately 4 hours, and all levels of cooks are welcome!   At the end of each class, the group will sit down and enjoy the food you have prepared together. Students have fun and walk away having learned recipes, technique and theory. Please check our schedule for on-going group classes.
