We welcome our students, friends and guests to join us for a week-long (7 days / 6 nights) food, wine and cultural immersion in Marrakech, Morocco in an incredible, private villa for a fabulous week. Our location is just outside of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech in a tranquil, secluded location.

All our guests will be staying together in an amazing, private villa that was designed and built by an architect from Barcelona in a true, Moroccan style. The locations we scout in advance to see in person and ultimately choose for our culinary trips are always unique and wonderful and are located in non-touristy areas. Each bedroom has a unique feel and layout with an en-suite bathroom. Our standard is double occupancy, but we make exceptions as needed for singles sharing a room (2 beds) and location dependent can accommodate singles as well for minimal additional fee.

Each morning, one or two students along with the chef will prepare breakfast for the group. After breakfast, enjoy several hours of free time prior to meeting up again for the day’s activities and preparations of the recipes. On cooking days, we will enjoy a lighter, al fresco lunch and have an evening meal of the recipes we have created together.

Excursions

Excursions await us for interesting things to see and do in Marrakech. A professional tour guide will lead us on a guided tour to learn more about Marrakech – shopping in the old medina, Jemma el-Fnaa square – exciting at night!, visiting with a highly reputable (and fair priced) rug merchant who has been in the medina for many years, visiting a spice shop and learning more about spices. Opportunities to sample local delicacies.

There are many other cultural attractions for those interested, and our exact plans for these will be determined once we confirm our guests and their interests (museums, Saadian Tombs, Palaces, Atlas mountains, etc.)

Multiple, morning yoga classes ~ for those interested ~ will take place outdoors, near the pool.

We are delighted to offer private Hammam services at the villa – Morocco’s version to the Turkish bath – it is a pretty vigorous scrubbing and bath, done by a professional and ends with a massage! Yes, please…

About Marrakech
The ancient section of the city, known as the medina, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985. Surrounded by a vast palm grove, the medina in Marrakech is called the “red city” because of its buildings and ramparts of beaten clay, which were built during the residence of the Almohads. The heart of the medina is Jamaa el-Fna square, a vibrant marketplace. Nearby is the 12th-century Kutubiyyah (Koutoubia) Mosque with its 253-foot (77-metre) minaret, built by Spanish captives. The 16th-century Saʿdī Mausoleum, the 18th-century Dar el-Beïda Palace (now a hospital), and the 19th-century Bahia royal residence reflect the city’s historical growth. Much of the medina is still surrounded by 12th-century walls; among the surviving gates to the medina, the stone Bab Agnaou is particularly notable. Our location is minutes away by car.

Our last evening together, we will enjoy discussing what we have learned, fallen in love with and what we will take home from our experiences. Let’s enjoy our last taste of Morocco together with new friends and recipes!

Getting into Marrakech / arrival to our location – closest and easiest is to fly into Marrakech.   WE STRONGLY ADVISE GUESTS NOT TO DRIVE in Marrakech.

We will pick you up or have a driver for our guests to bring you to the villa, from the airport, train station or if you’re coming by car we will have very clear directions, etc. There is parking at the villa. We will also have a driver for our excursions throughout the week to keep it stress free and safe - the area is extremely safe as is the old city, but the driving is so chaotic and not anything what we are used to dealing with at home or in Europe.
